Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official stated the attack made him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
