US Military Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Asserted Without Offering Details.

Former President Trump has stated that US forces hit a "major facility" in Venezuela last week. However, the ex-leader offered no details on the exact purpose or location of the target, and there has been no additional comment from his team.

Vague Comments Offered In a Radio Show

"US forces just knocked out – I don't know if you heard – they have a big plant, where the vessels originate. The other night, we destroyed it. So we targeted them very hard," Trump allegedly said to Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Strike

Should a US military action were to be confirmed, it would represent the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the US Department of Defense began a expansion of American military presence in the region to disrupt drug traffickers that the Trump administration alleges operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The initial purpose of the military buildup has transformed into a blockade aimed at stopping the nation's crude oil shipments.

Social Media Footage and Administration Statements

Trump has for some time indicated that American military units are ready to expand the operations by striking targets within Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require legislative authorization.

Video footage posted online on 24 December appeared to show an detonation allegedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An source reportedly informed a news network that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Strategic Posture

The Venezuelan government has issued no statement on the alleged strike Trump described. Additionally, there have been no independent reports from within the country regarding it.

The buildup of US military in the area – a stance some have called a sea blockade – represents the most expansive maritime enforcement action of his time in office.

Sources have avoided from calling the operation as a full blockade, but have acknowledged that approximately 15,000 troops are positioned across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to uphold current economic sanctions.
