19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive approach and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He saved 4 initial break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
