Major Web Disruption Hits Many Sites and Apps

A large-scale web disruption has disrupted many online platforms and mobile apps worldwide, as users reporting problems connecting to the web following issues at Amazon’s web hosting platform.

The impacted platforms comprise Snapchat, Roblox, the messaging service Signal, and Duolingo, along with multiple Amazon-operated services including its key e-commerce platform and the Ring security home security firm.

In the UK, the financial institution Lloyds was impacted along with its branches the bank Halifax and Bank of Scotland, with additional accounts of difficulties using the HM Revenue and Customs online portal on Monday morning. Additionally in Britain, several Ring customers turned to social media to state their home gadgets were not working.

Just within Britain, accounts of problems on specific platforms ran into the thousands for each platform.

Officials confirmed that the outage originated in the east coast of the United States at the cloud division, a unit that provides vital online framework for numerous companies, who rent out space on the company's servers. AWS is the biggest global online services service.
